Black-frame window replacement

Slim black casements, awnings and picture windows that replace tired white vinyl, built to size and set in one day.

Dining room with four black-framed windows looking out to bare winter trees

Most of the windows we replace in Seattle are white vinyl or aluminum from the 1970s to the 1990s. They fog, they sweat in January, and the frames are thick enough to take a bite out of every view. Black frames read thinner from inside the room, so the glass looks bigger even when the opening stays the same. We measure every opening, order windows built to those sizes, and set them from the inside wherever the siding allows.

Signs it is time

  • Fog between the panes that never wipes off
  • Thick white frames that make the room feel boxed in
  • Cold air near the glass on a windy night
  • Sashes that will not lock or cranks that spin

How it goes

  1. A design visit: every opening measured, frame colours and grids seen in daylight against your siding
  2. A written quote naming the product line, glass package, colour inside and out, and the warranty
  3. Windows are built to your sizes, usually in six to ten weeks for black finishes (owner to confirm)
  4. One installation day for most homes, with cleanup and haul-away the same day

What moves the price

  • Frame material: black vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum-clad wood or thermally broken aluminum
  • Black outside only, or black inside and out
  • Glass package: Low-E, laminated for noise, tempered where code needs it
  • Insert versus full-frame replacement
  • Grid pattern and second-storey access

Starting prices for common jobs are on the packages list. Your written quote is the number that counts.

Questions

Does black vinyl hold up in the sun?

Dark vinyl gets hotter than white, so we only use lines the maker rates for dark colours, and we tell you which wall gets the most sun. On a hot south or west wall, fiberglass or clad wood is often the better choice. The quote says which and why.

Can the inside be a different colour?

Yes. Many lines offer black outside with white, wood or black inside. Black inside and out costs more, and you see both in samples before you order.

What about lead paint in an older house?

Homes built before 1978 get lead-safe work practices from a certified renovator. It is part of the quote, not an extra you find out about later.

Start with a design visit.

About an hour at the house, with frame samples. You get a written quote that names the product, the glass and the warranty.
